The hosting industry consolidated heavily. A great many of the familiar names are brands owned by a handful of holding companies, kept alive because the name still ranks and still renews. The support desk, the billing and the servers may have moved several times since you signed up, and nobody wrote to tell you.
We are the other thing. Same company, same owner, same city, since 2000. When you open a ticket it reaches one of us. When you ask a question about your account, the answer is not constrained by a script or a retention policy written in another state.
That is really the entire argument. Everything else — cPanel, free SSL, nightly backups, no contract — is table stakes, and we would be suspicious of anyone charging extra for it.

Honestly, no — not in any way a visitor would notice. Distance to the server matters far less than how the site is built. What a local host actually buys you is support in your own time zone from people you can reach.
Yes. Migration is a flat $299 however many accounts are involved, and we look at what you have first. If it is not worth doing, we will tell you that instead of taking the money.
It goes to the renewal rate shown beside the intro rate on every plan card. We print both on purpose — the cheap first year followed by an unannounced increase is the trick that drives most people to look for a new host.
